Canberra careersxpo tryaskill

Become a Try’aSkill exhibitor at the 2018 CareersXpo!

Give young people the opportunity to get real life experience and learn more about your skill or trade area.

WorldSkills Australia’s (WSA) Try’aSkill is an interactive program that allows visitors to try their hand at various skill and trade areas. The displays are entertaining, informative and offer access to some of the basic skills involved within a range of fields.

Try’aSkill aims to encourage people to appreciate that skill education and training can offer many viable career choices for the future.

Looking beyond 2030

This year we will be exploring the skills and jobs up to and beyond 2030. Try’aSkill will be located across two separate spaces in the Parkes Room and Budawang Building and exhibitors are encouraged to create a futuristic display, if appropriate, for their particular industry.

In 2017 the Try’aSkillSTEM Cell featured forensic science, fitness, nursing, surveying, engineering and cyber security. Exhibitors in the second Try’aSkill exhibit included hair and beauty, horticulture, bricklaying, automotive and arboriculture to give students an opportunity to experience firsthand VET based trade and skill activities.

Exhibitors in 2017 included Australasian Beauty Therapy Academy, Robogals, Engineers without Borders, Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute, ACT Tree Community, St John Ambulance, Canberra Institute of Technology, and Transport Canberra and City Services.
